FAQ

who do you work with?

I work with teens and adults who are committed to therapy. I provide individual therapy mostly, but will occasionally invite family members or partners/spouses into the process when needed.

People from all backgrounds, ethnicities, and religions are welcome. I am LQBTQ+ affirming.

what are your rates?

Rates are determined by the individual and couples’ needs. Sessions are normally 50 minutes.

Longer sessions are available and recommended for EMDR. Contact me for EMDR Intensive rates.

IMPORTANT:

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.

do you take insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider. If you have out-of-network benefits, I’d be happy to provide a monthly “superbill” (receipt) for reimbursement.

Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis, set arbitrary limits on session time and frequency, and require that your concerns require “medical necessity” for coverage. Many of life’s problems are not because of a mental health disorder.

If knowing what your out-of-network benefits will cover impacts whether you’d pursue therapy with me, please call your insurance company before contacting me.

where is your OFFICE?

Due to the pandemic, the Manhattan Beach office is closed. All sessions are conducted via secure telehealth.

EMDR intensives may be conducted in our Hermosa Beach office.

How long will we work together?

EMDR sometimes provides clients with relief in a few sessions, and others may see the benefit and want to continue treatment for months.

do you offer video/online sessions?

Yes, with pandemic protocols or anytime in the future, sessions can be/are conducted through a secure video platform. This is called “telehealth” or “telepsychology.” This is a great option when you’re not feeling well, or you’re strapped for time.

What is your CANCELLATION POLICY?

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you do not contact me to cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment, you will be charged the full fee.
